Freisa D'asti DOC

Case of 6

£68.40

A vine grown exclusively in Piedmont, Freisa finds its most suitable production area in the North of Asti. A vine with medium-late ripening, it produces wines rich in aromas and, in the best exposures, also in structure.
Wine:  Freisa d'Asti DOC
Grape variety:  Freisa
Production area:  Castelnuovo Don Bosco and towns located on the surrounding hills.
Vinification: Soft pressing and maceration for at least 4 days at controlled temperature.
Maturation: several months in cement. More or less prolonged period in relation to the characteristics of the vintage.
Color:  Intense ruby red.
Aroma:  Vinous, floral and fruity, evoking rose and raspberry.
Taste:  In the mouth the wine is decidedly dry, with a good body and a tannin that makes it unique, leaving a pleasant bitter sensation at the bottom of the palate.
Best time to consume:  1-3 years.
Pairings:  The tannin that is perceived in the mouth makes it pleasantly suitable to accompany dishes rich in seasoning or in any case fatty such as first courses with meat sauces, lamb and some Piedmontese dishes such as the Villanova blonde hen salad or Piedmontese snails.
